Christine O’Donnell: Don’t Let the Truth Get in My Way

But if I tell the truth, I can't win.

During her 2006 and 2008 Senate campaigns, Christine O’Donnell ran as having a “BA in English” from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

On March 21, 2010, Christine O’Donnell admitted in an interview she was never conferred a degree from FDU.

O’Donnell said the dispute was over student loans.

California reported the debt as satisfied in 2003, but she was never conferred a degree by Fairleigh Dickinson because of non-payment.

“They were withholding the diploma until I paid the bill,” O’Donnell said. “I finished the coursework.

On July 30, 2010 Byron York interviewed O’Donnell and reported this story for the first time:

(She actually went to the ceremony in cap and gown, she recalls, and “I was handed a leather portfolio, and inside, instead of a diploma, there was a bursar’s bill.”)

On September 2, 2010 Christine O’Donnell was interviewed live on the air with Conservative local talk show host Dan Gaffney and she told the same story that she told Byron York about being handed a bursar’s bill.

On September 3, 2010, Politico broke the story that Christine O’Donnell had just received her degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. The reason her diploma was delayed? She didn’t finish the coursework:

She fulfilled the last course requirement this summer. It was just a general elective course,” said O’Donnell campaign manager Matt Moran.

Christine O’Donnell received her degree after finishing her coursework on September 1, 2010, the very next morning she was still telling the voters of Delaware the sad story about being handed a bill instead of a diploma.

As The Delaware Republican Record has stated several times, the issue is not the debts, it’s about the lies.

All of this just goes to show the huge double standard being applied by the national pundits. Either they’ve done no due diligence, or, they’re willing to throw out their principles regarding personal responsibility all for a more conservative candidate.

Can you imagine the field day that Limbaugh would be having on his show if O’Donnell were a democrat?

If O’Donnell won’t come clean, tell the truth, and take personal responsibility in her own life, how can anyone expect her to take responsibility if she were in office?

    Precisely.
